IN PREPARATION FOR is about dancing. It is compose of 4 variations on the theme of William Hay performed at the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt.
I like to think about space created for and by the body over time as the common linkage between architecture and dance. Dance is a discipline of creativity that shares a special relationship with architecture. Both fields define and use space, time and the human body as mediums for creation. In other words, both fields influences and are influenced by the spatial and temporal movement of the human body.
The MAK is the ideal to show dance. Its architecture is the perfect frame for dancing, just as a frame for a painting. It allows to be attentive of its content without over taking visually with other elements.
Architecture and dance brings the space around us to our attention, over time. They organise and are organised by spatial and temporal movement of the human body.
